The Giant Horse of Oz is the twenty-second book in the Oz series and the eighth Oz book written by Ruth Plumly Thompson, following the legacy of L. Frank Baum. Published in 1928, the novel centers on the Ozure Isles, a remote kingdom threatened by the monstrous Quiberon, a lake beast left behind by the evil witch Mombi. Quiberon demands a mortal maiden as a companion, prompting a rescue adventure involving Prince Philador, High Boy (the titular giant horse with telescoping legs), Herby the Medicine Man, and Jo King. Their quest leads to encounters with unusual beings and the eventual restoration of Queen Orin, who is revealed to be the amnesiac Good Witch of the North. The book also features the kidnapping of Trot, the Scarecrow, and an animated statue named Benny, and concludes with the defeat of Quiberon and political changes in Oz.
Thompson’s Oz stories are known for their whimsical tone, inventive characters, and recurring themes of adventure, humor, and restoration. This installment is notable for bringing back the Good Witch of the North and providing more backstory for Oz’s magical rulers.

As part of the “Famous Forty” Oz books, it is a must-have for collectors and fans of the series, continuing the legacy of Baum’s world of fancy and adventure.

The book features vibrant illustrations by Neill, whose artwork is synonymous with the Oz series.

This edition is highly sought after by collectors & Oz enthusiasts.
